after leading safeway, while at safeway, as the chairman indicated, i got very involved in health care and discovered that it was a fascinating area. a great opportunity to improve the health of americans, a great opportunity to improve care without adding costs, and, frankly an opportunity to , dramatically lower costs. so i committed to spending the next 10 years of my life -- and i have now spent 4 -- in this space. what i wanted to do was to tell you briefly what my company does. we do three things that are unique. we are able to lower the company organization cost 40% to 50%. simultaneously lower the employee expense 6% to 10%. significantly improving the care they receive and, if they are willing, we can have a dramatic effect on the wellness of their population, which has profound effects on the productivity of that workforce. i picked wellness back in 2008, because we took note that about 70% of all health care costs are driven by health care behavior. because we thought as an employer with the right to design a plan however we chose, we could actually affect behaviors in peopl
